Marujo Hotel

I took a tour group of 40 people to hotel Marujo last week. As always, you can’t please everyone, and as the person responsible for the group, I received a complaint from just one room and none from the others. The location is excellent, and the staff deserve praise. They’re very helpful. From an honest perspective, and with over 20 years working in tourism, I think some things need improvement: the facilities and breakfast, and the showers take a long time to get hot. I’d call it good, but it needs a few small adjustments to be great.

I stayed at this hotel during Carnival. The TV didn’t work, the room had a cockroach and smelled musty, the breakfast was awful, and they water down the milk to make it go further. The bed was terrible too. If you want to regret your choice, stay at this pousada.

The location was the one thing that worked for my family and me: it's on the third beach, with lots of restaurants nearby. Everything else was a letdown. The room was awful, with uncomfortable beds, stained walls, and dirty bathrooms. Breakfast was served at Pousada Amendoeira, almost next door. It looked nice, but the cakes tasted eggy and were extremely cold, so we mostly stuck to French bread with butter, ham, and mozzarella. The bathroom cleaning was poor, toilet paper wasn't replenished, and the shower floor was stained enough to be disgusting. Hot water took ages and only started warming up near the end of a shower. The shared area wasn't pleasant either. There were smelly plants nearby, and the place looked ugly and neglected. It was a terrible stay, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you can, spend the money on a better hotel. This one isn't worth it, even for the price.

I was worried after reading the reviews, but my stay wasn't like what people were describing. The staff were really pleasant, including the receptionists and a very friendly security guard. The room was simple but comfortable, with a good bed, hot shower, and air conditioning that gets very cold. It was clean, there were no cockroaches, and they came to clean when we asked because of the beach sand. Breakfast was basic but tasty, and there's a market right next door. You do have to walk a bit to reach the swimming spots, but that's Morro de São Paulo, it's a place for walking. I liked it, so go without worrying.
