Pousada O Casarão

The staff were fantastic and helped us with everything. When we extended our stay and had to change rooms, the new room wasn't ready yet, so they let us leave our bags at reception while we went to the beach. Breakfast was delicious, with a decent range of choices, and the pool was clean. It didn't seem to get much use, apart from me 🙂. The pousada is centrally located near the plaza nightlife, and it was nice seeing the historic main building, which is over 400 years old. If it's full, try to get to breakfast early because it gets busy. All in all, we had a good stay.

We chose this pousada for my mother's 50th birthday and it was a terrible decision. There was no power when we arrived. The rooms were decent, but there are lots of stairs and nobody to help carry luggage up. The air conditioning in Room 15 was broken, and the hair dryer in Room 16 wouldn't fit the outlet. We booked three nights, but the room was cleaned only once, and towels were changed only if we asked. The reception attendant wasn't welcoming. Laila was the only one who treated us as we expected, and I'm grateful to her. The children's pool was filthy, with a dead bug in it when my daughter went in to bathe. It was still in the same condition all three days we stayed. And no, the air conditioning wasn't fixed. We left our keys at reception every day. We went out on tours, and we know how important that is, both so the keys don't get lost and because we expected the room to be cleaned daily. A very poor experience.

The staff were friendly and always ready to help, and the room was spacious and well kept. Breakfast was delicious too. It's right near the entrance to Morro and close to restaurants, a pharmacy, shops, and pretty much everything. Highly recommend!

There's plenty of choice for dinner nearby at night, and the pousada has its own restaurant. It's also right in the center of Morro, which is a great location. The problem was that we left Morro at 3:30 p.m. and weren't allowed to use the pool bathroom and shower after checking out. The night receptionist had said we could, but the person working the day we checked out refused. If you're leaving late and want to enjoy the day, I'd look for a more flexible pousada.
