Pousada Bem Te Vi - Cairu

A pleasant place to stay, with reasonable prices and close to the beach.

We liked this simple inn a lot. It felt safe, and the owners were attentive. It's on the second beach, which made it easy for us to reach the beach and the 4x4, 6x6, and boat trips around the island. The rooms were cleaned every day, with fresh towels. If you want your room cleaned, just leave the key when you head out in the morning. Guests can also come and go freely. The place covers what you need, and breakfast was delicious. The women who prepare and serve it are wonderful and attentive.

I went with my group to Pousada Beija-Flor in Morro de São Paulo, and everyone left happy. It's simple, but the location is top-notch, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Nothing to complain about, just grateful. My friend Jailton made every day special!

The one clear plus is the location, less than 200 meters from the beach. Beyond that, I found little to like. The building and plumbing are very old. The bathroom sink and drain kept clogging during showers, and there were no squeegees to clear the water. Rooms are tiny, with nowhere to put things or even hang towels. Fresh towels weren't provided daily, so guests were left using damp, sometimes wet ones. Noise from nearby neighbors started at 5:30 in the morning, making it impossible to sleep after that. Power was unstable every day. From around 6 p.m. onward, the inn's breaker would trip and we'd lose electricity for a while, often during showers. There's no regular person at reception, and all the room keys are left out in the open for anyone arriving to take, which felt very unsafe. Breakfast was very basic, with no healthy options, and it was served late, from 8 to 10 a.m. The man who works reception was often absent and seemed unwilling to help without complaining, as though guests were staying for free.
