The beds could do with an upgrade, especially the pillows. Still, this quiet hostel is only a five-minute walk from the main square, costs much less than others, and has a relaxed pool. The buffet breakfast was great, with eggs, fruit, sausages, and cake, and the attentive staff cleaned the rooms every day. I’m from England and have been traveling all over Latin America for seven months. This is one of my favorite hostels so far, a real hidden gem.

Papagaio is right in the heart of the island, about five minutes from the port and a ten-minute walk from the beaches. The rooms and common areas were very clean, and the service was great. It’s a comfortable place to stay, and the hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. Thanks, Alvise & Carla, for everything!

The location is a bit far from the center and beach number 2, but I really enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was great and the staff were great too.

The breakfast was really good and the place was comfortable. Just keep in mind it’s not very close to either the center or the beach.

The staff treated us well, but the condition of the place was a letdown. There was a lot of mold and the facilities felt run down. On the day we had a wedding, the water stopped working, so we had to shower at reception. The breakfast was very poor, and even the glasses smelled bad. I wouldn’t recommend it, it just wasn’t worth it.
