The hosts are a really nice young couple, and the guests seemed to be mostly students and professors. It’s a clean, tidy house style hotel with a shared kitchen on most floors. The location is handy for walking to Unicamp and Barao Geraldo.
We had a good four months at Papaya Tree Inn (Pousada Pé de Mamão) during a PhD exchange. João and Juliana were friendly and helpful, even getting in touch with other guests to arrange hang-outs, so we got to know people and had a great time together. As foreigners, we appreciated how much they helped with our questions and any challenges that came up. The place felt clean and safe, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner. Barão Geraldo seemed relatively safe for Brazil. It’s well placed between UNICAMP and the center of Barão Geraldo, which made it convenient for work or study there. I’d recommend it, especially to foreigners staying in Campinas.
The host is a really kind guy, and the place is close to useful spots around Barão Geraldo, including grocery stores and the University of Campinas (Unicamp). A very good place to stay!
Really good.
The welcome was lovely, and the woman who greeted us sent over lots of ideas for places to eat and go out, from cheaper spots to places considered expensive. We even got chocolates and a note wishing us a good stay, with our names on it, which felt thoughtful and helpful. My girlfriend and I have been treated very well so far. Our room is clean, neat, and pretty, and the wi-fi works great. The inn is in a good location too. I only arrived today, so I can’t comment on breakfast yet. I’d recommend it.
