Pousada Campos dos Holandeses

The heated pool was the whole reason I visited, and I was disappointed to find it was reservation only, with just one hour a day available for me or my group. I had imagined it as a place to socialize, but that wasn't the setup. They didn't tell guests beforehand, so you could arrive and find there are no time slots left. They might say this is for safety, but that feels ridiculous when everyone shares a room for the buffet breakfast. More than anything, they showed little concern for customers. A heads-up would have been enough. I tried writing to them and never got a reply. They try hard in plenty of ways, which makes leaving one star a pity, but go at your own risk of being let down. I don't want to return if that's how much they care.

We could bring our own drinks and food, which was handy. The homemade breakfast was fresh and had plenty of options. The hotel itself is charming and cozy, with really spacious, clean rooms.

The musty, damp smell really took away from the stay, especially in the bathroom. I understand the bathroom issue, but running a dehumidifier once a week would help a lot. The room itself was fine, just a little small.

Breakfast was wonderful, and everything was very clean and organized. Getting to the location was the downside: it's not very close to the tourist center, and the streets aren't well lit.
