Pousada Cheverny

A lovely place in a very convenient location.

I've stayed at the pousada twice during New Year's week, and both visits were wonderful. It's beautiful, cozy, and welcoming, with lovely Christmas decorations, and everything was clean and organized. The staff were kind, polite, and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, varied, and plentiful, and Tati deserves a special mention for being so sweet and looking after us so well. There are lots of DVDs to choose from, plus a fun area with classic games. The location is convenient for the center and several tourist attractions. I highly recommend it and plan to return.

I booked at pousada Cheverny through Booking on December 8 for a December 31 check-in. Today, December 17, I was told it would close on January 4, which means I can't stay there through January 6 as planned. They contacted me on WhatsApp and offered a different pousada run by the same group for those dates. At first, they wanted me to switch the payment method to Pix, even though Booking had said I would pay by credit card. The room I originally booked had a table and chair, which I needed so I could work for a few days. The replacement room wouldn't have a table, chair, or even an armchair. The employee suggested I work from the games room, a public space that could be noisy at any time. With just two weeks to go, this has left me scrambling to find somewhere else and facing extra costs and lost time. I've never been treated so badly by a hotel group.

For a three-star pousada, it's great value. The breakfast selection was small, but everything was good and fresh, and they made omelets to order. The bedding and room smelled a little like chlorine, though everything was clean and well cared for.
