Pousada Doce Vida

The staff were polite, helpful, and attentive throughout, which made a difference. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice and everything tasting fresh. We had a very good stay during the holiday in Campos do Jordão. Our room had a balcony and was simple, but comfortable, clean, and organized. We’d recommend staying here and would return.

For what they charge, I expected better facilities. The bed mattress was lumpy and the pillow hard, and the room was very basic. There was nowhere in the bathroom to set personal items, either by the toilet or at the sink. It only had one towel hook, so in a room for three, I could hang one bath towel and had to put the other two and the face towel on the extra bed and chair. The TV only got Globo and SBT. It had no apps for my Netflix account and no way to mirror my phone, so I couldn’t watch what I wanted. On the first morning I asked for scrambled eggs and was told the supplier hadn’t delivered them. I saw other guests ask on the next two days and got the same answer. The parking area was extremely tight. One car blocks another, so if cars have to leave their keys with staff, that’s a problem.

We stayed three nights with family at Pousada Doce Vida over Carnival 2026 and loved the cozy place. We’re sure to return. It felt safe, the location was good, and parking at the inn was included. You do need a car to get to Vila Capivari and the tourist spots, since they’re not walkable, but they’re all close by car. The staff were all extremely kind and polite, and the inn was spotless from the entrance to our room. The bedding smelled fresh, and the shower had strong, wonderfully hot water. The pillows were a bit low. I’m fussy about cleanliness, and the bathroom impressed me most: the shower stall walls were white and free of any mildew. You could tell the cleaning staff scrubbed them instead of letting grime build up, which I’ve seen happen even at big hotels and inns. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh, and tasty. There weren’t scrambled eggs set out, but when my husband asked the employee replenishing the food, she made a portion right away. The chocolate, strawberry, and lemon cakes were delicious and clearly made with care, and my son loved the mini chocolate croissant. We missed having Minas cheese, which is common locally. There was only prato cheese and ham. The coffee was strong and good, not weak like tea. In our triple room, we wished there had been a bedside table for each person. There was a double bed and a single bed, but only one table on one side of the double, leaving two of us with nowhere for a phone, watch, water bottle, or medicine. There were also too few outlets. We had to take turns charging phones, and to get another charging spot we had to unplug the lamp. There was no outlet in front of the beds for the floor fan, either. The nearby one was used by the minibar, so we’d have had to unplug that, or the TV, though the fan cord couldn’t reach the TV outlet high behind the set. There’s no air conditioning or ceiling fan. With the windows shut, even on cooler days the room felt stuffy, and on hot summer days that could be a real issue for anyone who feels the heat. Still, Pousada Doce Vida is beautiful and welcoming, with lovely staff, and we’d absolutely recommend it and come back.

We were welcomed by friendly, attentive staff, and everything felt carefully looked after. The inn was clean, comfortable, and pleasant, with a lovely room. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. I had an excellent stay and will definitely return.
