My family and a couple of my parents’ friends went to pousada do forte just for dinner at the restaurant. It was not an enjoyable meal at all. We’d heard good things about their breakfast and planned to eat there the next morning, but dinner was disappointing enough that we didn’t want to risk being let down again. Before going, we messaged them on Wpp with the dishes we wanted. They told us to order when we arrived, which was fine. But the dish I’d chosen wasn’t available because they didn’t have the equipment to make it, so I picked something else. My parents and the other couple kept their choice, which seemed to be prepared the same way as mine, and their dish was made anyway. Mine was fish with shrimp, meant to come with vegetables. The fish, which was supposed to be grilled, arrived raw and rubbery. There were no vegetables, despite the menu listing them, and they didn’t have olive oil for the salad. Communication between the menu, chef, staff, and customers was awful. For such a beautiful place, the lack of preparation and poor management were striking. The chef came over to explain that the right pan for the dish hadn’t arrived and that they were missing some equipment. There was only our group in the restaurant, nobody else. They should have told us that they couldn’t make the dish. Mistakes happen, but one problem kept following another. At the end, the chef tried to make it up to us with two desserts, but those weren’t very good either. The experience left such a bad impression that it took away any expectations or desire I had to stay there someday.
