Pousada Luna - D3 Experience

For more than two weeks, my partner and I have stopped here each morning after our beach walk to buy coconut water and sit quietly by the pool with my trained medical alert dog. We usually arrive around 8:30-9 a.m., when most guests are having breakfast elsewhere and staff are still cleaning the pool and chairs. We sit away from other guests out of courtesy, though the law allows me to be anywhere with my medical alert dog without explaining myself. On every day one particular employee is working, she makes a rude or snide remark. She keeps saying dogs can’t use the pool, although my dog has never been in it. Today she said we couldn’t be there “because of children,” even though there were no children around. My dog is a small, friendly, one-year-old Spanish Water Dog trained for medical alert tasks. One task is to bark if someone tries to touch him, so they know to keep away. We’ve explained that to her several times, but she still gossips to other guests and exaggerates, making him sound aggressive. He only barks when someone comes straight toward us, as she does, and he has never bitten anyone. The gossip, hostile tone, and unprofessional theatrics have made this peaceful daily routine feel like targeted harassment.

We came for a wedding, and I picked this pousada so we could stay next to the venue. We loved it. Lua welcomed us so warmly, was quick, and sorted out whatever we needed. Before we arrived, I’d mentioned that I wanted fish, and they prepared a wonderful baked sea bass. It was divine, made by a chef de cuisine, the kind of dish you’d get down on your knees for. Thanks, Luna, for arranging that delicious meal. It was so large that my husband and I were more than satisfied. The Pousada Luna team were all kind, extremely polite, smiling, and happy to serve us. I needed to relax, and I did. I left very happy, and the team made those days really special. If you’re going to Praia do Prea, I recommend Pousada Luna.

We had a fantastic experience that we’ll never forget. The location is magnificent, and the room was elegant and very comfortable, with care given to every detail. The staff were exceptionally kind and ready to help with anything we needed. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
