Sitio Serra do Gigante

I first visited in April 2021 and came back in August 2021. The second time I stayed a full week, and again it was peaceful and harmonious, surrounded by nature. The camping area is excellent, with level grassy ground, shaded spots, optional cover, electricity, and clean, new bathroom and kitchen facilities. kellyns does a great job welcoming guests, and Sr Gentil really is a kind, very friendly host. There are beautiful, clean waterfalls on the property, though the water is very cold. The nature is lovely, and it was great to see horses, ducks, and chickens around. I recommend it and will certainly return.

The place is beautiful, but sadly it's very poorly maintained. The camping area has no kitchen or even sinks to wash dishes, and the grass was long. To make matters worse, we got home covered in ticks. The owner was very friendly, but upkeep really fell short.

The road in is 3 km of dirt, but it's well maintained and easy to drive. My car sits low and made it through without any trouble. Since it's a wooded area, there are lots of insects at night. They also have charming chalés near the river. I loved my stay at this peaceful camping spot surrounded by nature. Sr. Gentil is very friendly and attentive. There are two spacious bathrooms with hot water, a fridge, stove, covered area, power outlets, and lighting. A river runs through the property, making it a lovely place to spend the afternoon relaxing. Pets are welcome. The owner's two very sweet dogs roam around and greet guests, while the birdsong is lovely and even the rooster crowing in the morning has its charm. They grow grapes for making wine and also produce mushrooms.

The person in charge was pleasant, and the farm and its setting are beautiful. Sadly, the whole place was dirty, the grass hadn't been cut, and there were ticks everywhere. Mares were wandering around, leaving horse manure all over the property, and the dogs wouldn't leave us in peace.
