Mariangela, the owner, is really kind and helpful, and her husband Help takes guests out to see the waterfalls and unforgettable scenery in his Land Rover. The inn is close enough to walk to the town center, with good bars and restaurants, and to the square where things get lively at night. Breakfast is generous and top-notch. The rooms are basic, the electric shower is fine, and the air conditioning works well. I do wish the pillow were a little better, though. That detail matters a lot to me.

On a scale of zero to ten, a thousand. We’ll definitely come back. The inn is very well organized and clean, and breakfast is wonderful, especially the cheese made in Serra da Canastra. Mariangela and Help are lovely people with great energy. They’re excellent hosts, always ready to help and suggest places to go.

The couple running the inn are attentive, and the air conditioning is good. That’s about all I can say in its favor. The room and bathroom are tiny, with very little space and no closet. There’s no minibar, and the old bedding is poor quality. Both spaces feel exposed, and the shower is pretty bad, even though the water is hot. The TV is a 14-inch tube set with only open channels. Internet only works on the reception veranda, not in the room. Parking could be a problem if the inn is full. Breakfast had fruit, but the bread was stale, there was no whole-wheat bread, and the fresh cheese served in the Serra da Canastra was really bad. On Carnival Tuesday they ran out of eggs, so only the early arrivals got any. There wasn’t a sugar bowl either. The owners have several dogs that poop in the garage, so you have to keep watching where you step.
