Pousada Naonda

The staff made us feel at home, and their service was what made the stay so special. The room had all the comforts we needed, including an extremely hot shower. Waking up at Pousada No Onda, at the tip of the island, meant watching the sun rise from bed in what felt like paradise. I’ve never wanted to return somewhere more than here. It’s a long way from the main centre, so getting around can be tough. We rented a vehicle, which made everything even better because we could keep our own schedule instead of hiring a guide.

There are hammocks on the decks, where you can take in amazing sea views, and the outdoor areas are excellent. This lovely Pousada sits on the cliffs, with spacious rooms. Breakfast is included, and the fresh afternoon snacks are very good. The staff are friendly and ready to help with whatever you need.

The place feels peaceful and welcoming, with lovely views of both sunrise and sunset. It’s near the Porto, and you can take a taxi to Vila dos Remédios or anywhere else on the island. Breakfast was delicious, and they also put together an afternoon snack with a lot of care.

The room was spacious, thoughtfully laid out, and very comfortable, especially the bed. It was kept clean and smelled fresh, and the large bathroom came stocked with L’Occitane shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, and moisturizer. We brought our own toiletries but didn’t need them. The hair dryer was powerful, the towels were big, and the sheets were soft. They also provided robes and towels for outings, so there was quite a bit we didn’t need to pack. The location is hard to beat. Enseada dos Tubarões is just a one-minute walk away, Praia do Porto takes four minutes, and the Museu dos Tubarões is five minutes away, with a lovely restaurant there. There’s another restaurant right across from the pousada, and more at the Porto. From one side of the pousada you can watch the sunrise; from the room’s balcony, the sunset is a treat with their delicious afternoon snack. Breakfast is brought to your room balcony, fresh and hot. The day before, they give you a form to choose what you’d like and what time to have it. Sineide even picked us up at the airport, and Maria Teresa and Denise were also wonderful. They were all friendly and quick to help. Their recommendations for tours and guides were great, too. We’d absolutely recommend staying here and would come back!
