Rodrigo, the owner, is amazing and puts on regular events for guests, including rooftop barbecues. That rooftop is huge, with hammocks, a kicker table, and plenty of room to sit together. The hostel is only a few minutes from the beach. Rooms are clean and cozy, and some have balconies.

We had a great stay, thanks so much. The shared room is lovely, with a BBQ, pool table, and TV with Netflix. Bathrooms are new and clean, and every bedroom has a balcony. Rodrigo e Mari were really nice and helpful. The hostel is perfectly located, a minute from the beach and under five minutes from groceries, the bus stop, laundry, and more.

The volunteers were lovely, though we couldn't really communicate with them, and that's the only reason I'm giving two stars. Nobody spoke English. We had to stalk the bathrooms just to get a shower, and Barra Surf Hostel is far from the main part of town, even though it's close to Barra do Lagoa beach. I wouldn't recommend this hostel.

I loved staying here. The hostel is nice, the staff are really friendly, and both the beach and supermarket are about a two-minute walk away.
