Pousada Pedra da Boa Vista

The place is pretty, with lots of greenery, and I liked it, but there are a few things to mention. The host is very friendly and lives in the house behind, so he was often around chatting, which was nice. His partner was around too, but she seemed more reserved, and at times we felt like we were bothering her. We had three cars, and the host had one as well. Since the yard is small, sometimes cars had to be moved so his car could get in or out, or vice versa. It wasn’t a problem for us, just something to know. The gas stove’s flame was very low, so cooking took a long time. Some kitchen lights didn’t work, making it quite dark and harder to cook. There was no toilet paper in the bathrooms. The shower in two of the bedrooms burned out the first time it was used. We didn’t tell the host, so he had no way of knowing or fixing it. Before it burned out, the shower worked quite well. The room we stayed in was comfortable, attractive, and cozy.

Since this is presented as a guesthouse rather than a vacation rental, there should be fresh bed linens, cleaning, and someone available to help guests. I arrived on Sunday, but the pool wasn’t cleaned until Tuesday. The grass was long and poorly maintained, and the bungalow I stayed in had no clothesline. The air conditioner dripped by the kitchen door, and the electronic gate never worked from the day I arrived until my last day. I think the listing should call it a vacation rental, because there’s nothing like a guesthouse about it!

My family rented this as a house. They sent us photos of a house, but when we arrived there were several apartments, and the owner lived there, which took away our privacy. I didn’t like the difference between what had been agreed and what we found. We weren’t told it was a guesthouse.

We had a fantastic weekend surrounded by nature. The owners were so kind and made us feel completely at ease. A wonderful pousada, we'd happily come back!
