Watch the breathtaking sunset from your room or the shared barbecue area. The host is fantastic, Claudio, best known as "Jacaré," which means "alligator" in Portuguese. It's a great spot for swimming in the ocean and paddle boarding, and in the south of Florianopolis Island you can enjoy fresh oysters bought directly from the Ribeirão da Ilha Oyster farmers with an ice-cold Bohemia beer. Just paradise!

Ribeirão da Ilha is a beautiful place in Floripa, with lovely scenery and great oysters. The property sits right over the sea, and the beds in apto 3 were comfortable. The two bedrooms have TVs with a good picture, air conditioning, and dark but clean sheets. The apartment itself is quite basic, with an odd layout. The kitchen is tiny and poorly equipped, missing basic cooking utensils, and there's no living room for the family to spend time together, just the small kitchen and balcony. The host did try to sort out our requests, but the refrigerator broke, so we had to cut our trip short and head home early.

Having a car here is pretty much essential. Getting to the main sights around Florianópolis takes over an hour, and tour companies can’t pick you up from this location. The setting itself is beautiful and quiet, surrounded by nature, and the beach is fine for an evening unwind, though much of the shore has broken shells that make it uncomfortable to walk on. Inside, the place matched its description and felt spacious and comfortable, with beds that were a little hard for me. It was clean when we arrived, but the frying pan left inside the oven was greasy and filthy, so we couldn’t use it. We only spoke with the owners at arrival and once when they asked us to switch off the air conditioning when we weren’t in the room. Comfortable stay, but the distance made getting around difficult.
