Cataratas Park Hotel e Eventos

The restaurants are staffed by people who seem completely incompetent, and the service was horrible. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere.

For a three-star hotel at this price, it’s a decent option, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s especially handy for Cataratas, at most a 10-minute cab ride, though that means being far from the city centre and everything else. Breakfast was good, but the dining room felt small. I heard some guests told to wait outside until they were called. The pool area could’ve been a nice place to relax in the evening, but the little bar played Sertaneja music the whole time. That might suit some people during the day, but at night I think it should be changed or switched off so guests can unwind. I try to be fair in my reviews. My wife and I stayed three nights, and the first room had a cockroach in the shower. I saw it crawl into a crack between the tiles. They let us change rooms, then a couple of days later my wife spotted one outside the window. I can’t tell whether cockroaches are common in the region or if this was a hotel issue, but I think people should know. There were a couple of smaller hassles too: nobody came to unlock the safe after we asked, and someone set our air conditioning to 30°C while we were out.

There’s plenty of buffet food, as you’d expect, but there aren’t any restaurants nearby. Unless you want to drive 30 minutes, it’s your only option. It’s a useful spot near the airport and parks, and a good fit for families on a budget or friends backpacking. There’s a games room, two pools, and open space. The staff were okay, though not especially accommodating. Maybe they don’t get many English-speaking guests, since communication was sometimes difficult. A young woman on the concierge team was lovely and did her best to help with what I needed.

The pool was clean, with lots of places to sit, and there was plenty for children to play with. The staff were lovely and very helpful. It’s a perfect base for Iguazu Falls, only about a 10-minute Uber ride away. I’d recommend it for couples as well as families, and I think it deserves more than three stars.
