Hospedagem 154 Colonial

I’d already booked two nights for New Year’s, but couldn’t get anyone to answer a call or message. I tried to get half my money back, which apparently wasn’t possible, but they couldn’t even reply to help me change the dates. I didn’t need to go there to know I’d wasted my money. The booking is nonrefundable, and it seems they won’t respond if you need to make a change. They do find time to reply to bad reviews, though.

Tiago was the highlight of our stay. He welcomed us so warmly, shared useful tips about things to do and information about Gramado, and was so friendly and polite that we even became friends. We spent eight nights at Hospedagem 154 Colonial and really felt at home. The Pousada is cozy and right in the center of Gramado, close to the main attractions, and we had a parking spot so we could leave the car and get around on foot. Our suite had plenty of room, roomy closets, a very comfortable double bed, and an extra single bed. The bathroom was spacious too, and the hot shower felt great after a day out exploring the city. The room was damp and smelled of mold, and the bedding was dirty and insufficient. There wasn't a single hygiene product in the bathroom, not even soap, and the toilet paper got wet from how damp and unhealthy the place felt. The “centenary” house is poorly maintained. The host was rude and practically put us out at 10:10 in the morning, right in the middle of the rain disaster. Given all that, leaving as soon as possible was actually a relief. Be careful with the good reviews, they're surely from friends or people who work there.

The location and affordable price make this place worthwhile. We were welcomed well, everything was clean and organized, and we got the keys and garage remote. After that, we could reach the owners on WhatsApp, though we didn't need to. We only saw them again when we left. The house felt safe and the area was quiet. We walked to all the central sights, from mini mundo to belvedere. The bed was comfortable, and the electric shower worked fine even on a very cold day. There was no heating, though, and the house was so damp that we had to leave everything open during the day. There was no floor cloth, so the bathroom stayed soaked. The only mirror was the small face mirror in the bathroom, and the bathroom door wouldn't close during any of our five days. The old wooden floor creaks loudly when someone walks by. With few guests it didn't bother us, but it could wake a light sleeper. I wouldn't recommend it for children or older people. It’s worth the price, and I’d come back, but you should know what the conditions are like before staying.
