Pousada Castelinho Caiobá

Great.

The advertised extras were a big disappointment. The inn’s website mentioned internet, arranging boat trips, and diving from the pier, but none of those services were actually offered, so I felt misled. We also expected better service when we booked. I stayed here with my family during New Year’s week, and I didn’t feel safe. The gate was left open all the time, and the location made us feel exposed. There were only two female employees: one handled breakfast and guests, while the other, a 15-year-old girl, cleaned the place. I don’t understand how an inn that requires cash payment can show so little concern for guest security. Breakfast was awful. They served leftovers throughout the week, and the food was very poor quality. I wouldn’t recommend this place to families who care about safety.

The scenery around Hotel Pousada Castelinho is beautiful, and we fell in love with the place. We’ll come back as soon as we can. Manager Helena welcomed us warmly, showed us around, and shared useful information about the towns near Caiobá. I’d only suggest two changes to the owner: offer guests even a simple breakfast, and put a sliding glass window in the kitchen to help with the wind. Being so close to the sea affects food preparation in the shared kitchen. Everything else gets a 10.

We arrived with the whole family, seven people in two cars, and had to leave and look for somewhere else. There was no reservation under my name, the price was completely different, and they said the booking had to be for at least three nights, even though I’d booked two by phone. The attendant seemed totally indifferent. She just said it wasn’t her fault and made no real effort to sort it out. Terrible service.
