We were charged by the person for eight of us and stayed in the house, which had eight beds. It was nice to have a pool, and the suites were nice too, but the house itself only had the basics. There wasn’t even a mirror, so I had to shave in my car. With some painting and upkeep, it could be much better. At that price, we could have paid the same or less for two hotel rooms nearer the beach.

Just okay.

The owners were friendly, but the place is basic and needs a lot of work before I’d rate its quality well. When we arrived, it was hard to identify the inn. There’s no sign, writing on the wall, or lighting on the dark, tree lined street. We drove past twice and only found it by the number. Since it’s very close to a community, this feels especially important for visitors from elsewhere, and I worried about being robbed. Our room had a very strong smell from some kind of sealant applied to the bathroom door. The window was shut, and I got a headache and a blocked nose right away. It was awful, and we only stayed long enough to leave our bags. The owner said there were no other rooms available. She could have warned me at the WhatsApp number where we arranged the booking, but instead we arrived to learn that maintenance work had just been done. That felt very disrespectful and showed no concern for guests or possible allergies. No empathy at all. There were also too few basic supplies, including toilet paper and disposable cups. The outside pool bathroom was very dirty, yet the concern seemed to be whether guests might cause maintenance damage. The owner also watched guests at the pool. I was lying in the sun on the edge, while my fiancé was in the water talking to me, and she asked him whether he had tanning oil. He didn’t. It would have been obvious if she’d simply looked. If I’d gone into the pool, I would have rinsed off with soap and water first. She wouldn’t even turn on the waterfall. I wouldn’t recommend the place or come back. It seemed like the owners wanted guests without having to deal with maintenance. The owner needs to understand that maintenance is part of hosting, and that treating tourists well can only help the business.

The staff were polite and attentive, and the owner was friendly and nice. The inn itself is simple but cozy, and the pool is large, though the lining along its sides is coming loose and needs maintenance. Our pillows were very thin, which is just my personal preference for taller, softer ones. The shower in our room looked old and dirty. Getting to the beach was harder than the Airbnb listing suggested. It said three blocks and five minutes, but it was actually six long blocks and about a ten minute walk. That was extremely difficult for me because I have flat feet and one leg shorter than the other. You also have to cross the busy, dangerous Avenida Dom Pedro I. Very few cars stop at the pedestrian crossing, so you have to run across. An older person would have a very hard time. Check-in is another problem. They won’t let you in before 2 p.m., saying there’s no space, although the inn is large and has a pool area where guests could wait. I’ve heard this has been going on for years. It may be convenient for management, but it leaves guests who aren’t driving out on the street with their bags. The street is dark and feels unsafe, especially at night, so I wouldn’t recommend arriving late on foot. If you’re driving, that part isn’t really an issue. They always ask you to leave your key at reception when you go out, saying it might get lost. They also say they aren’t responsible for valuables in the room, which made me uneasy. We chose not to ask for cleaning during our stay. Nothing went missing and we had no problems, but the policy doesn’t inspire confidence. I’d consider staying again if some things changed, especially allowing people to wait inside before check-in. Walking around outside with luggage until the room is ready is really uncomfortable. The Airbnb listing was made by an agency, which explains why its information was wrong. Replies take more than three days, and they didn’t answer one of the chat messages at all. If you want to stay here, I’d suggest contacting them directly through Google by searching for “Pousada Marwille Guarujá”.

The inn itself is good, but the owner or management made us feel like they didn’t want guests there. My girlfriend and I, along with a family we met there, felt as if we were bothering them all the time. The owner would walk by and check whether the poolside was wet or whether we were going into our rooms dripping wet. Even using the bathroom meant drying off first, because the outdoor bathroom is neglected and doesn’t even have toilet paper. There’s no minibar in the room, and they don’t provide a water filter for guests. I asked the night worker where I could refill my bottle, and he said I couldn’t use the inn’s water and would have to buy one of their bottles. It’s not near the beach, and you have to wait outside for reception staff to open the gate. Given the location, you could easily be robbed while waiting, especially since they haven’t installed an automatic gate in 2025. They also require you to leave your room key at reception whenever you go to the beach or anywhere else, even though your belongings are inside. If you lose the key, there’s a fine of nearly 50 reais. I don’t recommend it.
