The Falls Hotel - Frente mar

The room was clean, and the hotel is in a great location, but there's little else to recommend. The restaurant menu is very limited, and room service stops after 10 p.m. They don't restock the fridge, so if you run out of water later than that, you'll need to take an Uber to the market. The parking garage is so tight you can barely park, and the spaces don't suit today's cars. The air conditioning is far from great. If you're after luxury, this isn't the place. FALLS needs to improve a lot to justify its prices.

The complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea were nice, and the pool area was great. But we had too many problems in the room to consider staying at The Falls again. The bed sheets and towels had several stains despite being described as clean. The room was also very noisy: sound echoed through the lobby, and we could hear people on our floor leaving their rooms and even using the bathroom. We could hear staff rummaging for cleaning supplies too. The room had no cups or table to sit at, just a tiny table on the patio. The safe didn't work when we arrived and had to be replaced. The Wi-Fi was awful, slow, and unreliable. Our login was supposed to allow three devices, but we could connect only two, so we needed another login for the third. We kept having to reconnect throughout our stay. The room cleaning sign was baffling. It offered “clean room” and “dirty room,” where “clean room” meant asking them to clean and “dirty room” meant leaving it as it was. Neither option worked for us, and we had to ask the front desk several times for cleaning. A lot needs fixing before Falls can call itself a 4 star hotel.

For me, this was a 5/10 stay and poor value for money. Next time I'd rather stay closer to the center of Enseada beach, or choose a hotel with more balanced prices and services. A closer look at Google or other sites will turn up better options. The pool and open area on the upper floor were a 7-8/10, and the view was nice, but there weren't many chairs for sunbathing. The hotel also doesn't control noisy guests with speakers and music that can be a matter of taste, so sometimes you'd rather be somewhere else. Staff were mixed, about 7/10 overall. Some were great; in the evening, a helpful and polite woman got us glasses, plates, and help with iFood. Others came across like army generals and weren't very polite when asked for a favor. The location is great, facing Tortuga/Enseada beaches, though that's already reflected in the above average prices. Nearby restaurants are limited: just a few expensive ones, about 4-5 within walking distance. Internet was above average with only minor interruptions, and the TV worked well with Chromecast and similar devices. I stayed in the Iguaçu, a mid-priced second-tier room. It was very small, though the bed and TV were fine. The balcony looked out at nothing, despite the advertised side view of the beach. It was almost laughable, but I would've been better off paying less for a ground-floor room without a balcony. The bathroom was tiny and the shower very weak, so it needs an urgent upgrade. Breakfast was pretty decent, 6/10, but the room was small, there were queues for tables, and people stood close to seated guests to reach the serving table.

The room was good, the staff were good, and everything went smoothly during my stay. The one downside was the small pool, which was dirty with lotion. I know that came from other guests, but the drainage should be better.
