The location is stunning, tucked against the mountains with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Waking up to that panorama feels like a privilege. Sadly, it's the hotel's only real strength. At an average of more than €275 a night, I expected basic service, but there was very little service and the organization was poor. In Brazil's heat, the drinking water supply wasn't working. The outdoor showers smelled strongly of sewage. Several outlets in our room didn't work, and housekeeping felt neglected. The sheets weren't changed for four days, despite the hotel saying they change them every three. The rooms are very basic and poorly maintained, with unattractive linens and disappointing finishes. Breakfast was poor too, with little choice and low quality, nowhere near what the price suggests. It's extremely disappointing to pay so much for these standards. Despite the beautiful setting, we don't recommend this hotel.

Getting around depends on boats, which cost 20 R$ per person each way. You can't walk to the village except at low tide, and we waited a long time for a boat that arrived late. The view is beautiful and breakfast was good, but our stay was still a real disappointment. The stairs are very steep. Our room was old and not very clean, the sheets and towels smelled bad, the sink was clogged, and there was no hot water. Staff were unfriendly at both check-in and check-out. I reported the sink and hot water problems, but they offered no gesture and didn't even reduce the transfer cost to the port. Service was slow, schedules were disorganized, and for the price it felt more like a guesthouse than a hotel. We really don't recommend it.

At Asalem, the team was so attentive and thoughtful in every detail, and breakfast was a delight. Waking up to the sound of the sea and opening my eyes to the ocean view brought a deep feeling of peace and harmony. It was a truly magical stay in a paradisiacal place. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Ilha Grande.

The setting is beautiful, calm, and relaxing. Breakfast was nice, and they provided beach towels. But we didn't always have hot water for showers, and the taxi boat costs added up. It also didn't feel environmentally friendly. Reception staff weren't very proactive, and the boat was loud enough to wake me twice.

This was a very unpleasant experience and a serious sanitary concern. At breakfast we found small insects and white worms in the granola. That's completely unacceptable at a hotel. When we reported it, a female staff member seemed irritated as we looked more closely at the food. She responded defensively and didn't appear concerned for our health. Worse, another staff member tried to downplay what happened by eating one of the worms in front of us and claiming it was “vitamin E.” My sister and other guests had already eaten the granola without knowing it was contaminated, which was a real health risk. The hygiene standards, protocols, and professionalism were seriously lacking. Very disappointing.
