Casas da Neuzita

The room was pleasant and the location was good. Just be aware there’s no air conditioning.

Dona Neuzita is a sweetheart, almost like a mother, and the place itself is quiet, cozy, and clean. There is a hill to climb every day, though, so I’d recommend it if you’re in good health and active.

I can’t understand how Booking has the nerve to let people reserve this place through the app.

The breakfast area couldn’t handle everyone, so there was a line, and once I had to clean my own table. The breakfast worker seemed friendly and hardworking, but the owner and many guests didn’t seem concerned about the pandemic. They went around the common areas without masks, even while serving themselves from the breakfast buffet. The room itself was uncomfortable in a lot of ways. The bed was unbelievably hard, like a stone under a sheet. The toilet lid kept falling on me, so I had to hold it while using the toilet. The breaker also tripped every time my sister or I showered, no matter what time it was. Once it happened three times during one shower, leaving me in the dark with cold water. The walls didn’t reach the roof tiles, leaving a gap between my street-facing room, the neighboring room, and the street. I could hear the next room clearly, along with everything happening outside, and wind and bugs came in. The walls also seemed so thin that I could hear everything from the house next door. There was shouting from 6 in the morning. They said room service would come after two days, but nobody came to clean or take out the bathroom trash. This was the worst pousada experience of my life. I made a point of returning as late as possible so I’d spend as little time there as I could. Stay away from this trap!
