The food was wonderful, from fresh juice, fruit, warm bread and eggs at breakfast to dinners cooked to order. We had the moqueca, fresh grilled fish, and steak, and it was all superb. Felipe, Conan & Fernando were especially nice and made our stay even better. It's peaceful and close to nature, away from the crowds. Lopes Mendes beach is yours in the early morning before boats come from Abraão and elsewhere, and again after they leave in the afternoon. Room #4 was great too. A tree outside had little red berries that the marmosets and different birds came to eat, and sunlight on a small bit of trail drew tegu lizards. I took some amazing photos, but won't add them because you have to come see for yourself. If you can book here, do it, don't waste your time in Abraão. Highly recommended!

I booked Atlantica Jungle Lodge in September for a January honeymoon and paid the non-refundable rate. I'm Brazilian, and this was my wife's first trip to Brazil. All rooms were available when I booked. I planned our dates around room #5 and emailed to ask if it could be guaranteed, while acknowledging their policy. Rodolfo said the room had been allocated, so I went ahead. If he'd said there were no exceptions, I would have booked the forest room or chosen another pousada. We arrived and were put in room #3. When I spoke privately with Rodolfo, he shrugged, repeated the policy, and gave a nonsensical reason about the party in room #5 having three people, even though room #3 also sleeps three. My wife, who manages a hotel, wanted us to talk with him together. That conversation confirmed we'd made a mistake choosing AJL. Rodolfo showed no empathy or problem-solving, lectured us about the policy, and kept asking what we wanted while shrugging. We suggested a discount, drink or dinner vouchers, a tour, or a boat ride, anything to help make the stay better. He refused all of it and became more defiant. After an hour, he reluctantly offered a refund only if we left. He blamed our expectations and reaction, and apologized for those rather than taking responsibility. When I asked for help making a phone call or finding somewhere else, he offered nothing, repeated the contract, yelled from the upper deck that he needed the room back, and criticized us to other staff. Ilha Grande was obviously full in January after a September booking, and I felt trapped. We were offered help finding a boat at checkout, but not while we were considering leaving because of how we'd been treated. We nearly left, then went to the beach, reconsidered, and stayed. Meanwhile, Rodolfo emailed and WhatsApped me, giving me 77 minutes to confirm we were leaving if we wanted a refund for the unused nights. I still can't believe it happened. I've never felt so bamboozled. I wouldn't trust Atlantica Jungle Lodge with a special occasion. The website was subtly confusing and the customer service inattentive. Room descriptions differed depending on whether you clicked from the landing page or “more info” during booking. Everything I mention is technically on the website and Google page, but I still felt misled once we arrived. The “forest” and “ocean” categories are presented as view options but are actually separated by size: forest fits two people at most, ocean fits three. One “ocean” room doesn't have the promised ocean view. The site says you can't select a particular ocean room and assignments may change at any time. Yet it also shows “room calendars” with specific dates when particular rooms are unavailable, which gives an illusion of scarcity. Of the three “ocean” rooms, only room #5 is truly special, private, and secluded. Rooms #2 and #3 sit on a walkway between rooms and don't have private decks, despite being listed that way. With the AC policy, keeping the windows closed during the day is uncomfortable, but opening them puts you on display. The forest room (#4) is also on the walkway, though elevated. In practice, only rooms #4 and #5 offer privacy. If privacy matters, book the forest room, since it's the only one you can actually guarantee under their policy. In my edit, their reply still took no accountability, acknowledged no shortcomings, and subtly blamed us. It felt like an absolute rip-off. If anyone had paid attention to my email, they could have communicated properly and I could have made a different choice. What happened with Rodolfo once a problem arose was simply insane.

The location is amazing, with great views and about 15 minutes from the famous beach Lopes Mendes. We had a great stay at the last hotel of our Argentina/Brasil holiday. The rooms were nice, but the people deserve a special mention: welcoming, helpful, and professional.

I don't write many reviews, but Rodolfo and his staff deserve one. This is one of the best places I've ever stayed. Tucked away like a little slice of paradise, it's only a 15-20 minute walk to the beautiful Lopes Mendes. Once everyone heads back by boat, you get the beach to yourself at sunset. The staff made the stay. Felipe, Fernando and his wife are lovely, made us feel at home, and shared a taste of Brazilian culture. And the food, especially breakfast, was amazing. We'll definitely be back soon. Thanks for everything, Rodolfo!

What a quiet, lovely spot. You can relax in a hammock with a cocktail, looking out over the jungle and beautiful island views, and still have Starlink WiFi. Breakfasts were fantastic, with fresh-squeezed juice, homemade yogurt, seasonal tropical fruit, and flavorful farm-fresh eggs. The restaurant has a good range of well-prepared filet mignon and seafood. You can also try the floating restaurant in the bay. Arrange the private transfer from Rio or Parity with the desk. Cards are accepted, but some drivers want cash, so check with the lodge before you arrive.
