Cabanas Paraiso

You’ll need either a taxi boat or a 2.5-hour hike to get here, and don’t trust Google Maps about the route. The hike is moderate but extremely humid. They gave us a ride back to Abraao, which was really nice. The place itself is cool, right on its own private beach, with friendly, helpful staff. They don’t speak English, but Google Translate worked wonders. Breakfast and lunch were included, and the room had lots of character. The kitchen and bar stay open reasonably late. There were a few downsides: no air conditioning, our room was next to a shared area with no soundproofing, and beach towels cost extra, which seemed odd. The bed wasn’t very comfortable either. The blanket was too warm, while the narrow throw wasn’t comfortable for two people. Still, it was a cool stay.

After four days in Rio, we were so happy to get here and unwind. The setting is beautiful, and Amanda and her team made us feel welcome right away. Amanda gave us ideas for things to do around the Island, places to eat, and local dishes to try. The staff were wonderful, and the kitchen ladies made some amazing food.

The quiet, secluded setting and “private beach” were perfect for relaxing. Abraão is reachable by boat or a challenging hiking trail. Transport to and from the accommodation was included in the price and ran punctually and reliably. Our rooms were clean, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the location was fantastic. The restaurant food was delicious, with prices similar to the rest of the area off Abraão on the island. Highly recommended, and thanks to the team for a pleasant stay!

The pousada has a private beach, lovely staff, and a good breakfast. The restaurant is pretty expensive, even for an island. I’d book a superior room with air conditioning, since nights get really hot.
