The pousada feels like a jungle paradise, full of lovely trees and plants. We rented a cabana with a double bed and hammock, and it was perfect for my boyfriend and me. The shower had great pressure and warm water, the bed was comfortable, and they cleaned the room every day. Breakfast was very complete, with fruit, meats, cheeses, fresh scrambled eggs, vegetables, breads, oats and toppings, plus a different pastry or tart each day. As a vegetarian, I was very pleased. I definitely recommend it.

Getting to the pousada means climbing a bit, so it’s not convenient with big suitcases and probably wouldn’t work for older people. Once there, though, we enjoyed our three nights. The room was clean, breakfast had lots of choices, and the people cooking were nice to us. The bar and dining area was pleasant and quiet. They helped a lot with arranging activities, which was probably more expensive but very convenient. They were quick to respond to our texts or questions at the entrance. On our last day they kept our luggage, so we could shop a little in the centre.

We loved staying at Pousada Albatroz. The staff were lovely, the breakfast was delicious, and the location was fantastic. I’d highly recommend it if you’re in Abraão.

The staff, especially Bruno, were amazing and very friendly. I had some medical problems, and he went out of his way to help. He even came to the doctor’s office and translated because the doctor didn’t speak English. It says a lot about how much the owners care. This was the best place we’ve stayed so far as a couple. We were in the chalet, in a peaceful, secluded spot surrounded by lush greenery that felt like the middle of the jungle. The rooms were nice, and the filtered water meant we could drink from the tap, something I hadn’t seen anywhere else in Brazil so far. Breakfast was delicious, with more variety than at any other pousada we’ve visited.

Janise and I only stayed one night, but the place fascinated us enough that we promised to come back with family and friends. Bruno and Leticia have spent ten years renovating this little patch of land they call "ALBATROS" and still have plenty of plans for it. It’s a small, cozy, peaceful pousada, with perhaps a dozen rooms: simpler ones below, and rooms with verandas and distant ocean views above. There are also small bungalows tucked into the greenery and a tropical gazebo with a palm leaf roof. Thick tropical gardens, bamboo details and local plants give it the feel of the Brazilian "mata atlantica" and a jungle, even though it’s 500 metres from a crowded, noisy little harbor, the main connection to the mainland. The place is well cared for, full of thoughtful details and simply but beautifully decorated. I took a walk around early in the morning while everyone else was asleep and breakfast was being prepared. The kitchen is more modern, with LED lights and what they need to make breakfast, while the dining area is built from varnished wood and bamboo to withstand the heavy tropical rains. There’s also a wide choice of international spirits, from tequila and Aperol to whiskey and ouzo. This is one of the most amazing places I can remember staying, alongside an unforgettable one in Palenque, Mexico. I don’t usually write reviews or recommend places on Booking, but this one made an exception for me. Janise and I were so impressed that we’d recommend it to anyone looking for a beach holiday.
