Pousada Bela Vista

The pousada looks charming, but the stay fell short over our four nights. We were given no clear explanation that housekeeping required leaving the key, so the room was cleaned just once. Communication in general was unclear, and the service did not help us feel welcome. The standard room is at the back, with no view, little daylight, and so much humidity that it feels dark and closed in. There was no place to hang clothes, and they would hardly dry in that damp space anyway. The bed is about 1.30 meters wide, much too narrow for two adults over several nights. Breakfast felt basic and unbalanced to us, mostly carbohydrates with very few sources of fiber or protein. On arrival, nobody was at reception, so we went into the kitchen to find someone, interrupting her work. When we asked for water, whether complimentary or paid, the exchange felt unpleasant, with little eye contact and an unfriendly manner. We understand she may have been busy, but it made for a poor first impression. We hope the feedback helps improve things. If booking, I’d choose a different room rather than the standard one.

The ladies were so kind and found me a room at the last minute when I was stuck, since boats had stopped going to my original accommodation at another beach. I really liked the room, especially the terrace with its great view and hammock. Breakfast was plentiful and good, with fruit, bread, lots of coffee, and more. It’s only about three minutes from the beach. I’d definitely come back, thank you so much! 😊🙏

The staff were lovely, and the free afternoon tea with cake and biscuits gave the place a really homely feel. We had a large breakfast brought to the room, and most of it was great, though we had to remind them a few times that we don’t eat pork. More reliable replies on WhatsApp would make the experience better. Our sea-view room with a balcony had an incredible view. It felt like an oasis, and was one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. We paid a porter R$50 cash each way, plus tips, for the suitcases. I’d recommend that if you have big bags, since they also show you the way. I’m looking forward to coming back to Ilha Grande and would stay here again.

Breakfast and service were good, and everything else was nice too. We had a couple of problems with the fan and air conditioning, but they fixed them quickly. ☺️
