Pousada dos Meros

The staff are lovely, and the location is good for staying on Ilha Grande. There's a laundry service, too. After we checked out, I realized I'd left my phone and bank card at the hostel. Someone from the team came to the pier to find me and return them. I'd highly recommend this place.

I felt safe and at home here, and really wish I could have stayed longer. The Pousada is right in the heart of Abraoo, with clean, cosy rooms and a good bathroom. There's a pleasant outdoor space with hammocks and benches, a good breakfast, and a clothes washing service. The staff were lovely, and it made my time in Ihla grande so happy and enjoyable. I hope I can come back!

We had to stay here for four nights, and for the price it was really bad. I wrote a long review on booking.com explaining all the reasons. I wouldn't stay there for even one more night.

The hotel and room themselves were lovely, and breakfast was excellent, but dealing with the staff was difficult. We were overcharged on our Visa card when we arrived, and no employee spoke English to explain what had happened. When it rained all day the next day, staff weren't helpful with information and seemed uninterested. I tried broken Portuguese, Spanish and Google Translate to ask for help with several things, even simple ones, but kept getting “Don't understand.” They wouldn't help with umbrellas, dinner recommendations or much else. At checkout, there was a problem with our transfer. They let me use the phone to make calls, but couldn't really explain what was happening. They also brushed us off when we asked whether we'd been charged correctly. Thankfully, they did issue a refund, though it only cleared after we left.
