Pousada Olhos D'Água

Amazing place in the jungle.

We really liked the breakfast, the pool, and how comfortable the bed and pillows were in room 02. The room was well ventilated, even chilly in the early morning, and the Wi-Fi worked well, which mattered since our 4G connection didn't work everywhere on Ilha Grande. Daphne had already helped us before our stay, and we also appreciated how welcoming the hosts were, especially Belinha (cachorra). The room was much too small for us to get organized, with barely space for our clothes. The minibar, TV, and bathroom were small too. The walk from the pier was rough. After the cemetery there's a steep hill, and by the time we got up it we didn't want to go back down. We made good use of the pool, but my husband and I won't return to Pousada Olhos D'agua. Now that we know the area, we'd definitely choose somewhere closer to the pier, where the road is flat. Hope this helps someone.

The owners are lovely, and the pousada itself is charming. It even has its own water and sewage treatment system. The small stone pool is great for relaxing after an outing, and the water gets really warm. Beds are comfortable, the shower is hot, and children are welcome. The room has no window, but the door is a balcony style and opens onto beautiful views. There's both a fan and air conditioning to choose from. Breakfast was very good, though with only five rooms for rent, there's naturally not much variety within each item. They offered one very good natural juice, two cakes, French bread and sliced bread (no wholemeal), homemade and packaged toast, margarine, jam, crackers, plain biscuits, two fruits, mozzarella and white cheese, ham, hot water with several teas, chocolate powder, coffee, regular milk (no skimmed), and scrambled eggs. My only reason for not giving five stars is the location. It's far out and up a steep hill, so anyone with mobility difficulties should think it over. We usually went out for the day, came back to shower, then headed into the center for dinner. Going back and forth often would get tiring. Still, there's nothing bad to say about the pousada itself.

We left very disappointed after staying here with our family. The listing felt misleading: you arrive by climbing a hill into a peripheral neighborhood, then find the pousada down an alley. I have nothing against the neighborhood, but for what we paid, this felt unreasonable. It's also far from the pier, which isn't convenient with children. The photos gave us the wrong impression. The pool is tiny, and we had no privacy there because the owners kept watching and giving us advice. We felt like guests in their home on a favor, with them bothering us constantly. The rooms were very small, had no windows, and felt like motel rooms, not suitable for a family with children. They provide towels only every two days, which was unlike other pousadas where we've stayed and received them daily. At breakfast, Dona Tereza kept walking by and watching what guests were eating instead of letting us relax. We travel with our family every year, and this was the most critical place we've stayed.
