Pousada Vivenda das Bromélias

An inexpensive place to stay, and a very artistic pousada.

The beds and pillows were moldy, and the furniture was old and broken. I’m allergic and left feeling ill. This pousada is awful, and I wouldn’t recommend it to any person, only to dust mites, fleas, and cockroaches. How can a place like this be open to the public? It’s unacceptable.

I stayed at this pousada for five days. The place was clean and quiet, but getting there was frustrating. It’s on a steep street with no sign. After searching around, I called and was told it was at the beginning of the street. Once I found it, I saw there really was no sign, and the gate says ÄTELIER BROMELIAS. The TV didn’t work, and neither did the Wi-Fi. Breakfast was poor: the same items every day, overripe fruit, sour Minas cheese, broken biscuits, and QUALY served instead of butter. They even put QUALY in the butter tub to mislead guests. Bath towels weren’t replaced, just hung out to dry and brought back to the room. I paid the regular price, with no promotion or discount. Be careful, this felt like the old story of someone thinking they’re clever at others’ expense.

The garden is gorgeous, and the rooms are very nice, though they smell a little musty. Breakfast was the real standout: generous, lots to choose from, freshly baked bread, several juices, and good coffee.
