Hostel Estalagem Cocaia

We came for the quiet and greenery, and Amadeo and Jilci were warm and helpful throughout. There’s also Pipoca, a lovely little cat who kept us company. The shared area has kitchen utensils, a microwave, a sink, a two-burner stove (I think, though I didn't use it), a TV, and tables by the TV and pool. Our room was tidy, with a private bathroom and a great shower; the fan and mini-fridge both worked well. The bed was very comfortable, and the sheets and towels were spotless and white. I did wish there’d been one more pillow since I sleep with two, but it didn’t affect my rest. The common areas are full of trees and plants, and the mulberry tree was loaded with fruit when we visited. It was wonderful to pick berries for dessert after breakfast.

We’ve stayed here before and will be back again. The value is great, and the location works well, with a bus stop nearby and easy access to the best beaches if you have a car. Sr. Amadeu and his wife Juci have always treated us so kindly. It’s a lovely, cozy place with a rustic feel, rooms for couples or families with kids, internet, a mini-fridge, a pool, and a barbecue. The kitchen is well equipped with a stove, microwave, and cookware, including pots, a frying pan, plates, forks, and knives.

If you want to be near the center while still surrounded by nature, this is a good fit. We were welcomed so warmly by Amadeo and Gilce. The inn is simple but very cozy, with pretty decor and really clean sheets. They also rent bikes!

I spent a week at the estalagem and loved it. It’s a simple, rustic place, but cozy, quiet, and good value. There’s space to cook and a pool to swim in. The parking area only fits two cars, though the streets are quiet enough that you can leave your car in front of the estalagem. I’d happily come back again.
