We were two couples walking the trail from the Usina Itacaré waterfall to Praia de Jeribucaçu. On the way back, the easiest route was the road by this establishment. One couple left the beach before us and was allowed onto the road, but when we tried, the security guard told us we couldn't pass and would have to take a much longer way around. The couple he let through was white; we are Black. It was obvious what happened. This is part of a Brazil that pretends things like this don't exist, while people who aren't white are made to take a much longer road. Keeping a public road for private use like this is inhumane.

It’s outrageous that this hotel exists and blocks access to the beach by taking it over for itself and its guests.
