Pousada Abaré

Carlos, the owner, is easy to talk to and very helpful. He can share sightseeing tips and point you toward the best beach. Some beaches can only be reached from the road to Ilhéus, and there may be an entrance fee plus a long walk downhill. Spanish and English are understood. The pousada is a tidy place within walking distance of a nearby beach, in a quiet setting with a leafy inner garden. It suits anyone who likes a cozy, familiar pousada. There’s a small but excellent pool and a huge jacuzzi right beside it, plus sofas and a recliner for relaxing with a drink or chatting. Free Wi-Fi is available, and there’s complimentary afternoon tea or coffee with delicious cake. The pousada had strict OMS rules: staff and guests had to wear masks, seating was limited with tables spaced out, and breakfast times had to be scheduled. You can eat breakfast on the veranda by the pool. Smoking is only allowed outside, and all rooms are non-smoking. Rooms have split air conditioning, a large TV, free Wi-Fi, all the amenities, a mini fridge, hot water, and a spring mattress. Parking is limited, but you can park nearby and it’s very safe.

The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was good. It’s close to the city center, and the pool is nice for a dip after the beach.

The rooms were very clean, with a new air conditioner, a great bed, and a very good bathroom. It’s a 100% non-smoking place with a calm atmosphere and a great pool. The location in Itacaré is excellent, close to the downtown street and Praia da Concha. Breakfast isn’t a feast, but it’s really good, fresh, and tasty, with omelets and tapiocas made to order. I liked the pousada a lot and recommend it.
