Hotel Pousada Cruzeiro do Sul

I love this inn and always stay here! It's got the country atmosphere I like, while still being close to everything.

The inn is beautiful, very clean and in a wonderful, convenient location. But the breakfast was awful. There was hardly any variety of cake, cheese or bread, no yogurt, and we had to keep asking them to refill what little there was. The drinking glasses were like bar glasses, the same kind used in the rooms. They couldn't even provide a decent, inexpensive glass. This was easily the worst breakfast I've had in Visconde de Mauá. The owner was curt and didn't ask us anything. For the price, it's absolutely not worth it. I'd always wanted to stay here, and I was disappointed. I don't know if ownership has changed. I can't recommend it unless things improve.

The rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. It's a good place, with a nice breakfast and a convenient location. Just be careful with some chalets near the street bars, since they can get noisy at night. If quiet is what you want, choose one farther inside the inn. As with the rest of Visconde de Mauá, the strong presence of people from São Paulo seems to mean that average places are priced like luxury ones. What I paid here could have bought a much higher standard in the mountain towns of Petrópolis, Teresópolis or Friburgo.

The place is simple, but the view is lovely. Breakfast was really tasty, and the location is excellent.
