The bed is still comfortable, at least. But the maintenance is absolutely disgusting. It feels like the hotel was abandoned for 9 years and only just reopened, despite being so well built and having such good quality materials, like the flooring and stone furnishings. The staff service was well below par, too. They didn't pay me any attention, and smiles were simply nonexistent, except from the Tapioca lady. This was a huge shock after my first stay, which was absolutely magnificent in every way. I stayed with my then girlfriend, now my wife, while traveling for work in Recife back in 2006. This time we needed to spend a night in Recife, and I saw the hotel was on a deal, despite the shocking reviews. I can confirm the shock is real.

The rooms are spacious, though a little dated in some ways. Guest service was very good, and the hotel is well located near the beach. With so many activities inside, I'd probably come back and stay again.

The beach is really nice, and the mall is close by, about 5 minutes away by car or bus. Piedade is a great location. There's a lot to do at the hotel, including a very nice gym.

For beachfront accommodation with amenities, it's a great deal at around $75 USD/night for a Queen Premium Suite. Still, don't let the 5-Star rating fool you. A lot of the conveniences US citizens are used to aren't up to par, even by Super 8 standards.
