Blue Residence Jericoacoara

The breakfast was fantastic, with lots of fresh food and a lovely sea view. Special thanks to Ivan the waiter, who looked after us every morning and made the stay so good. The place is right by the sea and the location is perfect. The rooms are nice, but they all face the pool, so there’s noise and not much privacy. Some areas feel run-down, and the rooms need renovating. It doesn’t really feel like a five-star hotel.

Blue Residence has a great resort feel, with friendly, helpful staff and a clean, spacious, impeccable room. The pool is a little old and dated, but still inviting and relaxing. The hotel is only minutes from the main beach, and at low tide you can walk a few kilometres along the beach at night. The outdoor restaurant sits right by the sand, with an incredible view of the ocean and dunes. Its breakfast buffet was delicious and a real highlight. You’re also close to plenty of restaurants and gift shops, and about a five-minute walk from the main square. I absolutely recommend this hotel when visiting Jericoacoara.

We were four people staying at the Residence Inn in early June 2025, including an older woman and a teenager, and the hotel worked really well for everyone. Divino helped with our luggage when we arrived and made us feel at home right away. Each morning Esivaldo served breakfast with a friendly smile and attentive care, which was a lovely start to the day. At the wet bar inside the pool, Marcelo brought us refreshing non-alcoholic drinks and kept the area spotless. I wholeheartedly recommend the Residence Inn and will definitely stay there again when I return to Jericoacoara.

The location was great, close to major stores, restaurants, and a beautiful beach. But the hotel didn’t feel worthy of five stars. The outside was fine, while the interior seemed neglected, whatever the recent-looking social media photos might suggest. Our room needed serious repairs. Closet doors were broken, and a faulty shower flooded the bathroom. It took two days to fix, and the room smelled of glue afterward. Paint was peeling in the bathroom, with mold on the walls and ceiling. The stove and fridge were in terrible condition, and there weren’t proper tools for cooking or cleaning. The towels and pillows were very old and dirty. The towels were so rough they felt like floor mops. Breakfast service also left a bad impression. During our five-day stay, nobody mentioned the à la carte option, even though we saw other tables getting it. I’d like to think it wasn’t because we’re an LGBT couple, but it was hard not to feel ignored. The breakfast area’s tables and chairs were in awful shape, and some had nails sticking out.
