The staff were lovely and polite, and I felt sorry for them carrying huge, heavy breakfast trays alone for three or more people, up and down all those stairs. They must end the day with sore backs. Breakfast itself was low quality and nowhere near five-star. Having to order everything, even coffee, was stressful, and the hot dishes arrived cold because they couldn’t keep up with demand. If you expect a five-star hotel, this isn’t the place.

The breakfast was a terrible experience, and we wouldn’t return even if it were free. The choices were poor, fruit came brown, whole, and wrapped in cling film, and the eggs, tapioca, couscous, and other hot dishes were cold when served because they couldn’t handle demand. You have to use a Google form to choose the next day’s food just after finishing breakfast, and even basics like coffee, butter, and salt need to be ordered. Forget something and you have to message them. It made what should be a relaxing meal miserable. This hotel is overrated and overpriced for what we got. It doesn’t deliver what I’d expect from a five-star place. There are better pousadas in the vila for less money and with better service.

I loved the plants throughout the hotel, and my fiancé and I enjoyed walking around the beautiful, relaxing grounds. But I could barely sleep through a night. We were on the first floor, and there was noise from workers outside and dogs barking in the middle of the night. Every morning at 6:30, someone started sweeping and shoveling dirt into the gaps between the rocks. I appreciate them keeping the grounds nice, but it woke me up each day.

Cozy, beautiful, and amazing. Everything about this village and hotel got me excited. One of my best experiences.
