We got a very good deal on a room for five, and the pousada was close to all the amenities. The place was great, with a pool and a small bar, and breakfast had plenty to choose from, including fresh fruit and juices. Our room was clean and very rustic. Pablo and his wife, the new owners, kept making sure everything was in order. Thanks so much, guys. I'm very pleased with our stay.

We left after just ten minutes and found another place in the village. When we explained why we wouldn’t stay and asked whether we could get at least 50% back for the unused nights, the owner was very rude, turned away, and said we were lying. After a while, he did process the refund. We were traveling with friends and had found the place on Booking and Instagram. The outdoor area was acceptable, but the photos didn’t show how neglected and smelly it was. The room was awful: unbearable mold, a strange bathroom, a filthy mattress, a hole in the ceiling, dirt everywhere, and spiderwebs. We asked for another room, but were told they were all occupied. If you want somewhere basically clean and organized where you can rest during your stay in the village, don’t stay here. If you want something really rustic, find a hostel instead.

The staff were polite and willing to help, but the rest of the stay was terrible. The room was so moldy that we couldn’t keep the door shut, and we didn’t sleep there even one night. We rushed to another inn the next morning. The listing photos are out of date and don’t reflect what the place is like now.

We booked three nights, but managed only one before heading back to Fortaleza. This place completely spoiled Jericoacoara for me. If basic comfort and hygiene matter to you, stay away. The pool was quite dirty, rotten cashews were scattered around outside, and at night there was a lot of noise from the roof that sounded like rats running around. The room had mold in several places, including beside the bed, and the smell was unbearable. The bathroom looked dirty, had no shower enclosure, and the curtain smelled awful. There were spiderwebs on the ceiling too. I expected something simple from the photos, which would have been fine, but not this level of neglect. The air conditioner was very old, apparently unmaintained, and rigged so it could only be switched on or off, with no temperature control. I was hot all night. The TV wouldn’t turn on, and the minibar was old. The place felt abandoned and badly managed. It was easily the worst accommodation experience I’ve had.

The place felt so cozy, it brought back childhood memories of the story of João and Maria’s little house. I loved it. The breakfast was nice, and they even had a delicious afternoon snack. 😍😍😍
