Pousada Angelica

Really great.

Really great.

We stayed for six days, and everything seemed to be going well until the last day. A very bad experience at the end erased the positives for us. After checking out at noon on day six, we went to have lunch at the pousada’s restaurant. The cook was rude when he told a staff member loudly that there was no parmegiana. We asked about an omelet, beans or any other simple options, but he brusquely turned them all down. We settled on steak with onions, which he said he’d make, though his attitude had already made us uncomfortable. Then another guest came in and ordered the very dishes we’d been told weren’t available, parmegiana and omelet, and the cook said he could make them after all. Coincidence or not, that group was larger, and it felt like we were being treated differently. It’s upsetting when service seems to depend on how big or convenient a customer is. One unprepared, rude employee managed to ruin the whole stay. We don’t recommend this place, and it’s now on our travel group’s list of places we won’t recommend. A shame.

The price is affordable, the location is good, and breakfast is nice. It’s peaceful at night for resting and pleasant during the day. One thing they should change is the pool hours: opening at 10 is too late. On checkout day, people often want to use the pool before leaving, depending on their schedule.
