Loft On

The shared bathroom and kitchenette setup was gross. There’s just one sink for both, and the shower stall is tiny. The room itself wasn’t anything special either. The pet charge, between 70 and 150 reais, was tucked into the details even though the listing said it was pet friendly, and it wasn’t cheap, nearly the room price. I’d already paid in advance through Booking and couldn’t cancel, but checking in was still exhausting because they already had all my booking and security details. They mentioned parking before I booked, then said it cost extra even with a discount. It wasn’t on site, the nearby lot cost more, and the street has no parking signs. I stayed only because I was tired and couldn’t cancel. It was just one night before continuing the trip, thank goodness.

There’s no parking at the hotel. The affiliated lot is half a kilometer away and still costs extra. They’re also refusing to refund me even though I’m legally entitled to free cancellation. They say Booking.com is responsible, while Booking says the hotel won’t return the money. Dishonest.

We were in Joinville on 17 October and had booked and paid for the Loft on. There’s only one sink, in the kitchen, and you’re supposed to use it for the bathroom too. There’s no sink in the bathroom. That’s unsanitary: after using the toilet, the same sink could have fecal coliforms on it, then you use it to wash fruit and dishes you’ll eat from. They don’t have an operating permit or a health license.

I loved my stay. The manager was attentive and caring, and all the hotel staff were great. Everything was perfect.
