There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, so the laid-back atmosphere never feels dull. It’s a charming, safe little haven in the mountains of Chapada Diamantina, and a great base for seeing the region’s many natural attractions.

We arrived today and I’m staying in apartment 03. It’s tidy and has the necessary utensils. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, with no en suite, plus another bathroom downstairs beside the living room and kitchen. The place is far from the center, so you need a car. The upstairs shower is very weak and could use a pressurized showerhead.

The stay itself was great. I only held back a star because there were a few unexpected issues when we arrived, and then renovation work started at 7 a.m. at the neighboring house inside Village Funchal, even on Saturday. They were cutting flooring and hammering loudly all day. Since the houses are attached, it sounded as if the work was happening inside our house.

The two-story house was excellent, with a fully equipped kitchen and a roomy laundry area. The mattresses were new and comfortable, the air conditioners worked, and the bathrooms and showers were good and new. There’s also a 20-liter water jug, which saves you from buying water. I recommend it, great value for money.
