Mercure Manaus Hotel

The bathroom feels dated, but the room and bed are comfortable. Breakfast is standard. There’s a mall nearby with good places to eat, and the neighborhood has nice restaurants too. Be sure to try Tio Aremnio in the mall. The hotel itself is good and well located.

The moldy smell and humidity were bad in both rooms. We requested a change, and the replacement was only slightly better. Then, around 2 am, reception called to say the fire alarm had detected smoke in our room. We told them everything seemed fine, but being woken with that news left us worried something was wrong and made it hard to fall asleep again. They should have sent a technician to check the detector. If it was a false alarm, we expected an apology and compensation for the night being disrupted. We don't recommend this hotel.

The rooms are really nice, and that's why I gave it five stars. It's so much better than the Intercity Hotel. The breakfast is pretty tasteless and could use a new chef. They should also run the swimming pool's filtering system more often.

The rooms were spacious and clean, with good AC, and the shower pressure was amazing. There's also a huge new mall just a two-minute walk away, with all kinds of shops and plenty of food. We arrived at 4am, unfortunately having missed our Amazon tour the day before, and had only one day in Manaus. Reception arranged a car and a tour for us at local prices, leaving three hours later. We also needed a phone adaptor, and they pointed us toward a solution. The staff were ready to help at every turn and rescued what could have been a disastrous situation.
