Flat no Tropical Executive Hotel

We arrived late at night to find that our room had no linens, even though our reservation email said something different. It turned out that some rooms are privately owned and aren’t managed by the hotel, and for some reason we’d been sent to one. The owners had to get an Uber to bring linens over from wherever they were, so we were left waiting. The hotel could have provided them, but a hostile receptionist made sure that didn’t happen. Check your room earlier if you can. The hotel itself is decent, though it’s starting to feel run down. Never again.

The infinity pool and the view were the only real highlights for me, along with the option of room service. It was hard to get hold of room service, though, and housekeeping could be more thorough. Several rooms have mold in the bathrooms, including on mirrors, in the grout, and in ceiling corners. At 2.5 stars, I’d only consider it for the pool and view. The rest doesn’t justify the price.

We had a large room and a huge bed, with some rooms looking out over the river, and breakfast was nice. Ponta Negra Beach is only a five-minute walk away, and it’s worth going for a dip. The property’s by the river, but the road leading to it is still a construction site. The air-conditioning units were so loud that we couldn’t sleep well, and the pool was closed for repairs on our arrival day. I wish we’d been told beforehand.

The food was outstanding, and I really liked the location and the staff.
