The location is nice, but my room felt old, and the bed had black hairs and dust on it. Breakfast doesn't start until 7. They had no water to sell and no dispenser, so we spent the whole morning walking around trying to find drinking water.

The street right by the entrance was the first problem: garbage, a bad smell, and groups of homeless and drunk people shouting, laughing loudly, and blocking the sidewalk. It felt dirty and uncomfortable to go in or out. Inside, the building seemed neglected, with cracked walls, dirty floors, and a dreary feel. The conditions were nothing like the photos, and I don't think this place should be advertised as a hotel. My room had bugs, mold on the walls and ceiling, and a strong damp smell. The old windows didn't close properly, so street noise came straight in, with people shouting, cars passing, and loud conversations through the night. Sleeping was nearly impossible. The bathroom and shower were so dirty I didn't feel comfortable using them, and seemed not to have been properly cleaned in a long time. Breakfast was very basic, poor quality, and didn't seem fresh. For me, this was a waste of time, money, and energy. The conditions felt unsafe and unacceptable for travelers, and didn't meet even the minimum standard I'd expect from a hostel. There are plenty of other options in Manaus. I'd tell people to stay far away and not ruin their trip by booking here.

Street noise poured in because the windows wouldn't close, making sleep impossible. The shower was filthy, and the breakfast was cheap, unhealthy, and not worth touching. Outside, there was garbage and homeless and drunk people shouting right at the entrance. The building was extremely old and dirty, and the rooms had bugs, mold, and horrible smells. Hotel Casa dos Frades was one of the worst places I've ever stayed. It isn't a hotel, or even a hostel, in my view. A complete waste of money. Stay anywhere else.

The location was the one good thing. My room wasn't clean, and the bed was extremely dirty, which made the whole stay uncomfortable. For the price, I expected much better. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We couldn't sleep because people were cleaning the common areas at 3 a.m., and our window wouldn't shut, so all the noise came into the room. Staff then watered plants beside that window and got us wet while we were trying to sleep. The room also had windows facing the hallway, where people kept switching the lights on all night. Someone in our party accidentally left an item behind. Staff said they hadn't found it, but Apple Find My showed it moving around Manaus, then at someone's home, and later back at the hotel. Be careful with your belongings here. The rooms were clean and the hotel was decent otherwise.
