Great.

The guesthouse has the basics to be a good place, but it feels poorly maintained. The internet works reasonably well, and Mônica is friendly, helpful, and proactive. Still, it’s tiring and awkward for guests to keep asking for basic room upkeep. I can’t recommend staying here for now. If the maintenance issues were addressed, I’d be much more willing to recommend it. The room lighting is weak, and there’s no bin outside the bathroom. The bathroom bin is tiny for a family’s daily use. The bathroom also needs renovation: the shower door won’t close, and the old shower is so dirty that the water flow is extremely weak. There aren’t enough hooks or shelves for shampoo, conditioner, and towels. Tap and shower water looks cloudy or yellowish and has a strange, unpleasant smell, leaving me feeling as if I haven’t showered. The only amenity is low-quality soap, and the bathroom looks unclean. The air conditioner cools very well, but it was quite dirty, with mold on the vents, and the allergy sufferers felt unwell. Water dripping from it leaves the balcony soaked. The support that should hold the room’s tilt windows open is broken, so they can’t be left open. It’s a short walk to Praia Três Coqueiros, and the town center is reachable on foot, though it isn’t that close. The neighborhood can get noisy, with very loud music of questionable taste playing all day on some weekdays. Breakfast is basic but decent and filling. There’s no yogurt, granola, or oats. When the guesthouse is busy, food isn’t replenished unless a guest asks or complains, and even then it can take a while. They make cuscuz and tapioca on request. There’s fruit, bread, juice, coffee, eggs, cake, and tea bags, but no hot water available for the tea. Breakfast starts late, at 8 a.m.

We stayed for a week, from November 23 to 29, 2025, and would absolutely choose this place first if we came back. The rooms were cleaned daily and the towels were fresh. It’s also close enough to one of the beaches to walk, and Barra Grande has plenty of restaurants. The only drawback there was the prices, so food was where we spent the most. The guesthouse is small, with only a few rooms, but the service felt exceptional. Monica and Bruno were wonderful, caring and attentive with us. Mônica is such a loving, kind person. They checked in each day, chatted with us, and shared tips and ideas for outings. Bruno made fresh breakfast every day, all homemade: four kinds of fruit, savory snacks, juice, cake, and tapioca and cuscuz made fresh to order. After an unpleasant experience at another place we’d booked, Umbudendê became a refuge. We were charmed right away by how warmly the owners welcomed us. We loved the guesthouse, and its owners even more. We felt completely looked after and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Umbudendê has such a lovely feel to it. The welcome, the breakfast, and the atmosphere all made it a wonderful place to be. I’m grateful to the people running it for being so caring, attentive, and available the whole time.

We loved every bit of our stay. The rooms were spacious, the place was clean, and breakfast felt like it was made with love. Monica and Bruno are fantastic hosts and treated us warmly. Cristal, our golden, was welcomed so nicely too. Thanks for taking such good care of us. A hug from Antônio and Kelly.
