Sobrado da Vila Hotel

The hotel restaurant was a classy find, with a stunning setting and what felt like the most authentic local flavors I’ve seen this year. Don’t miss Traditional Récipe. I’d rate it five stars, with price and atmosphere at four, and service at five.

I’ve only stopped by for drinks and dessert now and then, not stayed here. The comfortable seats and yellow lighting make a nice setting for the live Brazilian MPB music, which is well performed. The workers are friendly and will explain the drinks, even how to make them yourself. Prices are fine, and do tip the live music.

With fewer than thirty rooms, this charming, rustic hotel is clean and well run. The staff were efficient and friendly, and breakfast was good, with a buffet plus the choice of ordering an omelette or tapioca. It’s right on the main pedestrian street, near lots of shops and restaurants. The pool is small, better for lounging than swimming, and it’s a pleasant walk to the beach. I highly recommend staying here.

The chicken was dry and overcooked, while the carrots weren’t cooked enough. Dinner could’ve used more spice, and it was a little too pricey for what you get.
