Hostel Costa Terral

Nice.

Terrible.

My 21-year-old son and I had a terrible stay at Hostel Costa Terral. The shared room ceiling is being eaten away by termites, and although I reported it to the manager, whose name I think was Danner or something similar, and to Cibelli, who works at reception, the kitchen, and the bar, nothing has been fixed. The building is all wood, so I wouldn't consider it as safe as it looks. There were other things that made us uncomfortable too. Some of the rotating staff seemed odd and smelled strongly of alcohol, as if they were drunk or had just been drinking. Every night there was also a smell of weed, maybe marijuana, coming from the parking area by a house where some of those staff members were often. I even overheard Danner speaking sarcastically and badly about us Argentinians. I wanted to report him to the PROCON office in Matinhos, but there wasn't one there; there was one in another nearby city. Be careful about staying here.

The staff's warm, family-like welcome really made the stay for me. The beds were very good, and everything felt comfortable. Breakfast was lovely too. I'm already making plans to come back.
