Casa da Estacao

The setting was a highlight: the grounds are beautiful and full of wildlife, with lightning bugs at night. The pool was a great size, with shallow and deep areas for lounging, keeping kids safe, or swimming laps. Our room turned out to be just right, decorated in a minimal-chic style with a storage chest for our things. The kitchen had everything we needed and was tastefully decorated, and the house has a lovely vintage feel. Most rooms were vacant while we were there, but I can imagine the common areas working well even with a full house. The owners and staff were exemplary hosts. We felt at home and looked after in every way. My wife has a condition that requires gluten-free food. There wasn't a gluten-free option, but the hosts accommodated us by making room in the fridge and giving us a place to keep our food prep supplies to avoid cross-contamination. They also had delicious gluten-free Belgian beer for sale, which was a very nice surprise. The one thing worth mentioning is the bats in the attic. They chirped and moved around noisily at times, and we thought they might actually be in the room. Maybe that's part of the nature experience, but it caught us off guard. There were a couple of other small details I left out because they might just come down to personal preference, and I'll send those in a feedback email. It was a lovely little getaway, and we'll be back soon with our little one.
