Vila 4 Amigos

There was a serious problem with a scorpion in the bathroom. While I was showering, one came in through the side of an open drain and climbed up my leg. We told the owner straight away, but he seemed to downplay what had happened, saying scorpions lived on morro careca, weren’t that harmful, and could be killed with insect spray. If he already knew they might be around, why not treat the place and make sure all the drains were properly covered? It left me wondering whether this is even a priority for him, though it could cause real trouble for people renting the apartment. The stay ended badly for another reason too. We’d asked to check out at 6 p.m. instead of noon because we’d be working from home, and the owner said that was fine. But on the day, the cleaner came and told us to leave because a family was arriving at 2 p.m. and she needed to clean. We checked with the owner again, and he confirmed we had to go. We ended up throwing our things into the car in a rush. There was very little communication or respect for the people renting the place. The apartment itself needs urgent maintenance, with loose tiles and a bathroom drain open at the side, and it had very few kitchen utensils. The parking area was extremely tight and terrible to get in and out of for any car, not just our large one. Residents even advised us not to maneuver there at night because of the risk of being robbed in the area.
