Pousada Recanto das Palmeiras

A great place to unwind, especially for Uruguayans. Leo Mar Guillermo is a wonderful guy, a real star, and the service and hospitality were excellent.

The location is stunning, with native forest around most of the property, but it was sad to see how neglected everything felt. Three stars for the setting, which is perfect if you want to be close to nature. Broken things seemed to be left in a corner rather than repaired or maintained, and the place needs a lot more cleaning. The cabins may need pest control too, since there were lots of tiny spiders. The pool water and edges were dirty, and the pool chairs need replacing. The air conditioner was faulty, though they fixed it. I had no problems with the service. Breakfast was modest, but there were ants in the sugar bowl. I hope they restore this beautiful place. It was upsetting to see somewhere so majestic in that state.

The view over several hills in the Serra gaúcha is impressive, and the town is lovely and well maintained. The inn itself is attractive and well kept, with comfortable beds and cozy cabins. There are soccer and tennis fields, plus a pool. Breakfast was good, with several kinds of cake, sausages, cucas, and bread. I enjoyed the stay a lot and would definitely return.

I stayed at this inn quite a while ago, and still remember it fondly. I wasn't looking for luxury, and there wasn't any, but the service was very good and the views were wonderful. The property is well situated if you're driving, though it's a bit far to get around on foot. Since I had a car, I can't say whether transport is easy to find.
